Joumana Haddad awarded this year’s Cutuli International Journalism Prize

Congratulations to Westbourne Press author Joumana Haddad on receiving this year’s Cutuli International Journalism Prize, in the foreign press category.

This prestigious prize is in honor of the Sicilian-born journalist Maria Grazia Cutuli who was killed in an explosion on 19 November 2001 on the road between Kabul and Jalalabad in Afghanistan. This year’s prize is the 8th to be awarded by the Maria Grazia Cutuli Foundation. The award ceremony will be held on November 24th in Catania, in the presence of the Italian Interior Minister and other personalities.

Joumana Haddad is an award-winning poet, literary translator, publisher and journalist. In 2008 she launched the Arab world’s first erotic cultural magazine, Jasad (Body), which made headlines around the world. Haddad was selected as one of the Beirut39 authors in 2009. I Killed Scheherazade: Confessions of an Angry Arab Woman was critically acclaimed and translated into thirteen languages.
